Inspiring Stories from the Life of Samarth Ramdas

Stories from the life of Samarth Ramdas-Guru of king Shivaji

The Boy Who Loved to Talk

Samarth was a young boy. He loved to talk.

He talked while eating. He talked while walking.
He talked even when he was alone.

Mother smiled and said,
“Samarth, eat your food first.”

Samarth laughed and said,
“But Aai, I have a new story!”

Everyone said,
“This boy never stops talking.”

But Samarth had a kind heart.

One day, the elders spoke to each other.

Elder said,
“Let us get him married. He will become quiet.”

Samarth heard this. His heart felt heavy.

Samarth thought,
“Why do I feel unhappy?”

Samarth ran to a Hanuman temple. He sat in front of Hanuman. He did not talk. He only looked.

Hanuman looked strong and calm.

Samarth whispered,
“I want to be like you.”

Strong.Brave.Good.

That day, Samarth’s heart began to change.

The Wedding He Ran Away From

The wedding hall was full of noise.

There were drums.
There were flowers.
There were many people.

Samarth felt scared and confused.

Priest said,
“Sit here, child.”

Samarth did not feel happy.

As the Pandit began chanting the sacred mangalacharan shlokas “Sumhurthe savadhan

Suddenly, Samarth heard a word inside his heart.

savadhan.”
It means to be alert.

His heart said,
“Wake up.”

Savadhan was not a ritual word—it was a call to awaken.

Samarth sprang up and ran away from the place with lightning speed, leaving the gathering stunned.

He ran. Barefoot,fast,free!

The Walk That Changed Samarth

Samarth walked from village to village. He wanted to see the entire Bharat and for this he started visting all the pilgrimage places of the country.

He saw deserted villages.
He saw barren lands..
He saw poverty everywhere .

When he reached Kasi he visited the temple of Kasi Vishwanath. And then he relaxed at Ganga Ghats.

A villager said,
“This is Hanuman Ghat but ironically there is no Hanuman here.

And then the villagers requested Samarth Guru Ramdas to install one.

And then he sat quietly. And he prayed.

And then he realised something.

Bharat is more precious than heaven.
But without independence, it is broken just like Hanuman ghat without Hanuman.

Hanuman is strength itself.
With his grace, oceans can be crossed and mountains lifted.
Therefore, we must pray to Hanuman—
and awaken that strength within us.

And inspired, he built a small Hanuman temple.

Samarth now knew his work.

He would travel.
He would teach.
He would make people brave again.

Far away, a young boy named Shivaji was growing.

One day, Samarth would guide him.

But that is another story.

Message:
One brave heart can change many lives.
